The de Havilland Aircraft Museum, London Colney, is currently seeking a new General Manager due to the retirement of the present incumbent. The full time paid post offers many opportunities to the right candidate.

The Museum is the first aviation museum in the UK, established in 1959, and is dedicated to preserving the heritage of Geoffrey de Havilland and his contribution to UK Aviation history. The de Havilland Aircraft Museum is staffed mainly by volunteers.

Birmingham Museums Looking to Appoint New Curator (Science & Industry)

Birmingham Museums are looking for someone with a background in science and industry, either through museum practice or industry experience, and an interest in connecting science and industrial heritage to audiences, to join their Curatorial & Participation team later this year.

The new Curator of Science and Industry will work collaboratively internally, and through participatory practice, to better research, document, and support access to Birmingham’s scientific and industrial collections. They will also contribute to continuing gallery developments, across Birmingham Museums Trust’s sites, with a particular focus on Thinktank, supporting the development and delivery of new displays that will engage existing and new visitors.

Job Opportunities: Port Sunlight Village Trust

Port Sunlight Village Trust are looking to appoint a Collections Curator. This is a brand-new post and the holder will work with the Heritage Manager to care for, maintain and secure the future of the Port Sunlight Trust collections.

The post-holder will contribute to the exhibition programming of Port Sunlight Museum and the development of the Lyceum Hub as well as making the collections as accessible as possible to all visitors both physically and virtually.  Candidates should be creative, people-focussed, an excellent communicator, and passionate about the difference museums and heritage can make to people’s lives.

Queen Street Mill Museum Job Opportunities

Queen Street Mill Museum, which is run by Lancashire County Council, has openings for two posts in 2021. Both are permanent and the closing date for applications is the 29th January 2021.

Firstly, they are seeking a Weaving Technician. This role is to perform preventative maintenance, repair, and overhaul of the historic textile machinery held in the collections associated with Queen Street Mill Textile Museums. Secondly, they are look for a Technical Demonstrator for a range of historic machinery in a safe manner to provide engaging interpretation to visitors.  This post will assist in the maintenance of the machinery and its environs as required and contribute to the manufacture of woven fabric to a high standard.  The post will also support all museum operations and activities in order to ensure visitors gain the best possible experience of their visit to the museum. The job is for 29.6 hours per week.
